Over the past 4 years, the NEWGEN project has developed and demonstrated innovative solutions to support the next generation of high-voltage direct current (HVDC) cable systems. Through interdisciplinary collaboration across materials science, manufacturing, diagnostics, and power system modelling, the project has contributed to advancing extruded HVDC cable technologies through:
- Novel insulation materials with enhanced space charge mitigation performance
- Reliable and cost-effective manufacturing solutions for thermoplastic HVDC cables
- Innovative online monitoring and pre-fault detection methods
- Advanced lifetime, reliability, and resilience assessment tools for HVDC cable systems
This webinar will present the key scientific and technological achievements of the project and discuss their potential impact on future HVDC cable systems and European energy infrastructure.
